Short Story Collection by De Pierola

Sur y Norte will be presented as part of The Dishonest Mailman Reading and Lecture Series organized by the Department of Creative Writing. (September 26, 7pm, Student Union 312)

Sur y Norte's characters are always negotiating cultural and economic differences, and, naturally, their efforts not always produce the expected outcomes. Four short stories take place in Perú, another four in California, and one tells a story about an illegal crossing of the American border. This collection of stories written from 1998 till 2007 includes: «En el vientre de la noche», winner of the international award Max Aub from Spain.

Welcome / Bienvenidos!

The purpose of this blog is to serve as a way of communication between us, the BCW SO Staff, and students. Here we will post news, ideas, on going projects, reviews of events and what-nots so that you can learn what's going on in the lives of these writers of El Paso.

Why a blog?
1. Because we dig blogs. Blogosphere is a great way to loose time, and when looking back, seeing that you left something imprinted about your memories.
2. Because we can write anything, and whatever, and make it public to you.
3. Because the new students we are hopping to attract (come small sweet innocent new students!) can thus see some stuff about classes, events, and opinions in a more direct way. (I mean, I would have loved a preview of how Professor X teaching method was... or ...)
4. Because this is easier to maintain alive than a webpage. Webpage is like a presentation card, but this is more dynamic.

So... expect to hear news soon.
